Fun and Unique Couple Ideas for Your Next Trip to Walt Disney World

Last Updated: July 3, 2023

*Some offerings have changed or are not currently available. We have worked to continue to update any changes to these options.*

Often there is an assumption that Walt Disney World is only for families or groups or that there are a limited number of things to do for couples at Disney. But after living in the Walt Disney World Resorts for a year, we can tell you, there are so many amazing things Disney offers for couples that many people don’t know about, so we want to share some of those with you today.

Capture The Magic Photo Session

The Capture the Magic Photo Sessions are such a fun way to take some great pictures in Magic Kingdom with one of Disney’s Photopass Photographers. They do a great job, and you get to have some beautiful keepsakes to take home to print out and put on the wall. The cost is $50 per 20-minute session, and you can book two session back-to-back. (The price is for the session only. If you have Memory Maker, the pictures are uploaded there. If you don’t, you must purchase a day of Memory Maker for the photos.)

Boat Rides

There are several different boats available for rent at some of the Disney resorts. From a fireworks snack party to an afternoon fishing, you can choose to enjoy a relaxing evening of fireworks or enjoy some fun in the sun together.

Carriage Rides

*Currently unavailable*

The carriage rides at Port Orleans- Riverside are bookable up to 180 days in advance and are a beautiful way to enjoy the sunset around Port Orleans- Riverside and Port Orleans- French Quarter. These rides are about 25 minutes long and are very peaceful and scenic. The cost is $55 per ride for up to four adults or two adults and three small children.

Dessert Parties

Fireworks Dessert Parties are a fun evening for couples of sugary sweets and alcohol (for those over 21). Having a VIP seat during the night shows in any of the four Disney parks means a more relaxing end to your day in the parks and fun trying lots of yummy treats with an assortment of drinks to wash it down.

Make Tie Dye T-shirts/pillow cases

Almost every Disney Resort offers either tie dye t-shirt or tie dye pillowcase activities. Tie dye t-shirts are $17 plus tax and can be colored any way you want. They’re a fun keepsake that you can create together and take home and wear over and over again to remind you of your Disney trip. Everything you need is included, including the shirt, the dye, and instructions for letting it set and the first washing.

Fun Runs

*Currently unavailable*

For the early morning risers or those couples who love to walk and run together, a Fun Run at a Walt Disney World Resort can be a great activity to get in some exercise together while also taking home a souvenir when you’re done. They often have photo opportunities to commemorate which Fun Run you were a part of. Each Fun Run is $15 per person plus tax.

Scavenger Hunts

*Most are currently unavailable*

Many of the Walt Disney World Resorts have Scavenger Hunts that are free for guests and can be a lot of fun! Prizes can be anything from a pin to a toy to an arcade gift card. If you’re planning a resort day, a scavenger hunt can be a fun activity that lets you explore parts of the resort you may not have even known about.

Disney Floral and Gifts

Disney Floral and Gifts is a wonderful way to surprise your significant other with a special in-room gift or celebration package. They have gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, first-time trips, and more. You can even customize your own gift bag. You choose the date you want your gift dropped off, and it will arrive in your room like magic.

Bakery Cake

If you’re celebrating a special day at Walt Disney World and want to have a cake for the celebration, a Bakery Cake from Disney can be made, and depending on where it’s ordered from, delivered to the room or a specific Disney restaurant. Another couple options are the Boardwalk Bakery on the Boardwalk or Sprinkles Cupcakes at Disney Springs. You can sign up for their perks to earn free cupcakes too!

Stay in a Unique Disney Room

Disney has a wide variety of room types that guests can choose from, so we’re going to point out just a few of our favorites for couples that are unique, and that we truly enjoyed. Our favorite stay at the Walt Disney World Resorts were the cabins at Wilderness Lodge. With a hot tub that you can watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks from, it was perfect. Another unique option are the cottages at Boardwalk Inn. Many people don’t know about these, but they include club level access and are very quiet with lots of flowers around them. Our final top favorites are club level at Contemporary, Polynesian, and Wilderness Lodge where you can get amazing fireworks views and unlimited food and drink.

Spa Day

*Currently unavailable*

“Spa Day” can sometimes come with the idea that it must be super expensive or more for women than men, but Senses Spa at Grand Floridian and Saratoga Springs is unique in that they offer the normal amenities, such as manicures, pedicures, massages, and facials. But they also offer a Spa Day Pass that includes all-day access to the quiet room, some snacks, a steam room, hot tub, and heated loungers. This pass is $25 per person, and you can come and go all day during normal operating hours. Saratoga Springs has a relaxation room that is co-ed, but Grand Floridian has no co-ed spaces.

Have a Caricature Drawn of You

At most of the Walt Disney World Resorts, in each of the four parks, and at Disney Springs, you will find small booths where you can get a caricature drawn for you. The Art Corner at Disney Springs is where we had ours done, and the whole process from when we walked in the door until we left, was about an hour. It’s not a long process, but it is a lot of fun. We got a digital copy as well as a printed copy. The price for a caricature is $35 per person plus tax.

Bowling at Splitsville

Bowling may not seem like something special to do while you’re at Disney World, but Splitsville at Disney Springs may just change your mind. Not only is this a fun place to bowl, but their food is incredible. Many guests show up just to eat the sushi here, and their portion sizes for the ice cream sundae, fries, and nachos are huge! For some late-night fun with great food, Splitsville is the place to go.

Private Dining

*Only available at select resorts*

If you aren’t wanting to spend a late night out or just want to enjoy breakfast in bed, Disney’s Private Dining is a great option for quality food brought right to your room. This is for deluxe resorts only with the exception of Coronado Springs. You can choose between ordering from the menu in your room, or for some resorts, opt for something from the restaurant at the Disney Resort you’re staying at. Dining credits can be used for private dining (except at Coronado Springs). We chose to order from Whispering Canyon when we stayed in the cabins at Copper Creek (Wilderness Lodge), and we got so much food that we didn’t have to have a reservation for or need to wait in line for.

Hot Air Balloon Ride

*Early morning discount is currently not being offered*

A Hot Air Balloon Ride at Disney Springs is a fun way to see some beautiful, scenic views of Disney Springs, a few of the parks, and the surrounding areas. The hot air balloon ride is $20 per person for an eight minute ride. That doesn’t seem very long, but it was plenty of time to enjoy the view. If you go during 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. any day of the week, the cost is $10 per person. (Note: if your significant other is afraid of heights, this probably isn’t the best date idea.)

Table Service Dining

If you’re wanting a fancy dinner together to celebrate a special occasion or just want a reason to dress up for a meal, there are a ton of options at Walt Disney World. Because of this, we can’t list them all, but we’ll list a few options here. California Grill at The Contemporary is a great option for a fancy meal with a unique view of Happily Ever After. Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge- Jambo House is our favorite signature dining restaurant on Disney property. It offers incredible food in a peaceful setting. The Boathouse and Frontera Cocina both have water views from their outdoor seating with great food options.

We hope you enjoy these ideas and found some new activities to try on your next Walt Disney World vacation. As Disney continues adding more activities and events and as we continue reviewing more things, we’ll update this list with even more fun Disney date ideas for couples.
