One of the newest additions for kids at the Walt Disney World Resorts is Captain Hook’s Pirate Crew at Disney’s Beach Club Resort. In just under a month, the recreation area at Beach Club was turned into a pirate cove with hidden treasure, a scavenger hunt complete with escape-room type clues, snacks and dinner, a movie area, crafts, a boat ride, and lots of games. We got a chance to go inside and find out more about this new experience, and we couldn’t believe how amazing it is! The best part? The cast members are just as excited about it as we were! We love how much the cast members at Walt Disney World love what they do and truly love helping everyone make memories while here.

Disney is planning to keep this around for a long time.
In light of many of the other childcare centers closing at the Walt Disney World resorts, that has been a question many have asked. This childcare center was built to last for a long time and hopefully will be the first of many more to come if it is successful (which we truly hope it does). The details throughout the entire room are incredible, and the imagineers outdid themselves with all the creative ways they hid secret compartments and clues for the treasure hunt the kids go on to find the lost treasure.
Table for games and dinner Lounging section This table can pull out to 8 feet or be folded up to look like a side end table depending on how it’s needed at the time. This allows for activities and dinner while also not being in the way for games and searching for clues to the treasure chest.
This childcare area is fully equipped and prepared for every child’s needs.
Cast members have been trained in cpr as well as special needs, epi pens, allergies, first aid, and child behavior. Your children will be in the best care with Disney’s cast members who are ready to help your child have a great evening while ensuring their safety in any situation. Not only are these cast member highly qualified to take care of your children, they truly love what they do and work to make each child’s experience an amazing one they’ll remember for years to come. They can also accommodate special dietary or allergy needs for the dinner menu. You can let them know when you call if there are any special food restrictions.

Captain Hook’s Pirate Crew is for any child ages 4-12 who is potty trained.
You don’t have to be staying on Disney property to take advantage of this amazing childcare service. Any child, ages 4-12 can participate in the fun. This includes children with special needs, in wheelchairs, autism, or just shy. The pirate cove is wheelchair accessible, and the cast members have been trained to take care of children to help everyone have a great time. The only exception is that children must be potty trained.

There is so much for children of every age to do and enjoy.
Check in begins at 4:30 and activities start promptly at 5. When the children arrive, they get to have a pirate name chosen by rolling dice and looking at pirate name sheet. They’ll then start the scavenger hunt that includes a fully built-in experience with clues that reveal hidden messages and secret openings around the room. It truly is amazing. Once the scavenger hunt is over, the children can enjoy dinner prepared at Cape May (all food allergies can be accommodated) followed by a boat ride on the water. If there is weather that does not permit for the boat ride, they have fun activities like Pirate Jenga, color your own pirate bandana, toss the ring on the hook, build your own foam pirate ship, and more for the kids to do. Your children will love all the amazing activities the cast members have planned for a fun and memorable evening at Captain Hook’s Pirate Crew at Beach Club .

The price is $55 per child from 5:00-8:30 and is worth every penny.
The cost is per child plus tax with no discounts for passholders, DVC, Florida residents or for multiple children. With the going rate for babysitters becoming more expensive each year, this price is quite reasonable when you consider the time, food (meatballs, mac and cheese, and dessert), snacks, safety, and the activities included. Each child gets dinner and a boat ride as well as games and activities throughout the whole evening. This leaves you knowing your children are having fun while you can enjoy date night or just a relaxing evening with the adults. Knowing your children are safe and in good hands while having a great time allows you to truly relax and enjoy an evening for yourself. Drop off/registration begins at 4:30 p.m. and activities start at 5 p.m. and ends at 8:30 p.m.

Space is limited to 30 children and bookings begin 180 days in advance.
Slots are booking up fast as more people find out about this incredible experience their children can enjoy at Disney’s Beach Club resort, so if you’re considering having your children join Captain Hook’s Pirate Crew, it’s best to call soon to book your child’s spot. Full payment is due when you book, but you can cancel up to 24 hours in advance. Walk-ins are allowed pending availability.

There are procedures in place if anything were to happen.
Of course no one wishes for anything to go wrong, but if your child is homesick for their parents or gets sick, there is an emergency form you fill out when you drop your child off that will have your contact info on it. The cast members will alert you immediately if there are any problems, so you can keep your phone on in case of emergencies, but still rest easy knowing your children are being well taken care of.

The children are separated by age into groups so they have fun at their own age level.
When the children arrive, they are given a necklace with a color. Ruby Red is for children 4-6 years old, Blue Sapphire for children 7-9, and Green Emerald for children 10-12. Once they are in their groups, each group will separate with a different cast member to start their treasure hunt. This helps the children get clues that are for their age range. Of course, if siblings would like to stay together, even if they are in different age groups, this can be accommodated to help everyone still have a good time.

Safety is always their number one priority.
There are security cameras in the pirate cove at Beach Club to ensure everything is above board. Each of the six cast members on duty has been finger printed and had a background check done. Disney has made sure to choose only the best cast members to take care of your children, so you can rest easy knowing your children are safe and well taken care of. There are also plenty of cast members watching the children at all times so you know every child is looked after. You can see some of the cameras in the picture below.

While 3 1/2 hours is a long time for kids to enjoy themselves, it isn’t a lot of time for parents to eat dinner together. The easiest way to get the most out of your evening is to be there for registration at 4:30 p.m., and then walk to a 5/5:30 reservation somewhere in the Epcot or Boardwalk area. There are plenty of dining options all around, so definitely consider those for your evening together. Transportation can take too long going to another park, so it’s best not to try to get a reservation somewhere that will take a while unless you’re planning to ride share or Minnie van to another resort for dinner. You could always stay and relax in the hot tub or bar at your resort as well or just enjoy time in Epcot exploring the countries since many kids don’t enjoy that part of the park as much anyway. Whatever you decide to do, we hope it involves relaxing and just enjoying your vacation at Walt Disney World.
If you’d like to book Captain Hook’s Pirate Crew at Disney, you can call Disney reservations at (407) 824-5437. You must put a credit card on file to book, but you have until 24 hours before to cancel. Reservations are recommended as this is becoming quite popular, so be sure to book as close to your 180-day mark if you’d like to add this special activity to your itinerary. Of course, any of the activities at Captain Hook’s Pirate Crew are subject to change without notice.
We did this in July of 2019 and my kids age 4 and 9 absolutely loved it! They wanted to go again the next night.
So glad to hear that! It looks like such fun!
Wow! This looks awesome! Can’t wait!
